As one of MHSA’s first Boston-based programs and a cornerstone substance use disorder recovery home in South Boston, Review Hope House has been helping residents reestablish a sober lifestyle for over 20 years. With steady clinical oversight and an experienced team of counselors, Review Hope House provides intensive substance abuse treatment services to 28 adult men for up to six months. Middlesex Human Service Agency Inc (MHSA) is a registered 501(c)(3) public charity based in Boston, MA, offering recovery programs for adults affected by substance use disorders. Their men’s recovery programs provide intensive services to help patients achieve sobriety and transition into stable living environments. Brookford House is located in Dorchester and provides a safe supportive recovery environment for parents in early recovery who also need help to secure permanent affordable housing. This brings together all the expertise and services MHSA offers in both our recovery and shelter programs.

They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction. When someone in Massachusetts struggles with both addiction and mental or emotional illness, this is considered a dual diagnosis. Dual diagnosis treatment can include emotional trauma, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression. Getting treatment for these issues must occur at the same time to treat either of them effectively.

We believe in teaching individuals the skills and problem solving abilities needed for self-sufficiency. We are a (6) six month program, with a variety of groups to help our clients cope with their substance abuse issues. Review Hope House is a (6) six month Halfway House for males with substance abuse issues, we require the client contact the program through a case worker from a holding facility, or a correctional facility. We have 24 beds, 6 of which are exclusively for clients coming from correctional institutions. We require that the individual have a psych-social and recent PPD upon his arrival for an interview.
