Borderlands 2 is among one of the trending games. Despite the arrival of Borderlands 3, the previous version of the game has not lost its popularity among the gaming audience. However many of us were waiting for a Borderlands 2 fix and the makers did not disappoint us. The good news is that Borderlands 2 now has 10 different DLC packs.
Additionally, all these DLC packs are something to notice. These 10 DLC packs include 5 campaign story packs and 5 shorter Headhunter packs. In this write up we will tell you all about the Borderlands 2 DLC order that you require to get started.
But before we get to the main section, we would like you to know a little more about Order of Borderlands 2 DLC and everything related to them.
What are Borderlands 2 DLC & Borderlands 2 DLC in Order ?
In the gaming world, DLC is a term used to provide additional stuff for an already released game. DLC stands for Downloadable Content, and according to the best online gaming forums it is defined as the “Additional content created for an already released video game.” The content is distributed by the makers to the audience or customers through the internet.
Level Range for Borderlands 2 DLC
So, before you go on to add any pack to your BL2 game, you must make certain things related to your levels in the game. The campaign difficulty of the BL2 DLC will depend on your level in the game and the mode you are playing. There are 2 modes, the Normal mode, and the True Vault Hunter Mode or TVHM Mode.
In the normal mode, the campaign difficulty level will vary at different level stages and will remain the same for a definite rage. So, the level will change in a different rage. The ranges are 15-30 level, 30-35 levels, or 30-38 levels. This will also depend on which story you are looking at. On the other hand in the TVHM mode, the enemies in one of the Packs can scale up to as much as 50 levels.
It is important that you also keep a note of the fact that once you start a DLC at a particular level it will stay at that level forever. So, it is advised that think once, twice, thrice and numerous times before adding a DLC, to begin with. The makers have added the level requirements to the DLC to make sure that you stay intact with the main game story and know all that is happening in the primary storyline.
However, it is not necessary, but we highly recommend that you complete the main game storyline first and then move on to adding the DLCs. Also, as a best practice, we suggest that you play these additional content in the order that they were released by the makers.
Length of the Borderland 2 DLC
Actually, it would be unfair if we try to quantify this value for you. The time taken to complete any storyline of a game depends on how a player plays the game. For many, it can be a matter of hours while for others it can take days and months to complete.
However, if you are ok with the average time, then the BL2 DLC accounts for another 20 hours of extra gameplay. But, these 20 hours account only for straightforwardly completing the mission of the story of the campaign pack.
You can add another 1 hour as an average game time for each of the 5 headhunter DLC packs. This in total gives you extra 25 hours of average Borderlands 2 game time.
On the other hand, if you are looking for some more game time, then we would suggest you look out for the full completionist mode. This mode will allow you to make out the most of the BL2 DLC packs. As, if you go for the full completionist mode, then you get a 12 hours game time on a single one of them alone. Isn’t that interesting?
However when you are done with both the main game story and the Borderlands 2 DLC packs, then here is a little something that you must read and use for accessing the areas that you missed due to limitations or the difficulty level of the mission.
How to Get Borderlands 2 DLC Packs?
Now, how you are going to get the DLC packs for Borderlands 2, depends on the platform that you are using to play the game.
If you are playing Borderlands 2 on PlayStation or Xbox then you can find the DLC packs for the game in the respective store of these platforms. We suggest it is best to keep an eye on a festive or occasional discount that you might get on the DLC packs.
Borderlands 2 DLC on PC
So if you are playing Borderlands on PCs you will have to go an extra mile to fetch the DLC for you. You will have to get the Borderlands 2: Game of The Year edition bundle from the steam market. This is the best deal to get if you are planning to buy the Borderlands 2 DLC.
With the BL2 game of the year edition, you get 7 out of the 8 DLC packs in one go and also save some money at the same time.
Now you must be thinking, why go for a base game when you already own it? If you want to save a bit on the price and still make the most out of it then, we recommend that you go for this bundle without a second thought. And there is no harm in buying the game again if it costs you less.
What we are saying is that if you buy these DLC packs individually you will end up investing more amount of money purposelessly. However, you will have to buy the latest Commander Lilith & The Fight For Sanctuary DLC pack separately from the steam market. So this is how you will get all the 8 Borderlands 2 DLC packs available for PC.
Additionally, you can get a free ultra HD texture pack and we recommend you to try it if you have the optimal setup for such extreme graphics output.
So, a free Borderlands 2 4K remastered edition with 8 DLC packs, is enough to get you busy for a while.

This is the first Borderlands 2 DLC pack to be ever released. Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty was released on the 16th of October 2012. This was about a month from the official launch of the Game.
‘Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty” is based on a pirate theme and takes an interesting detour from the main story of the game. We say this because the main story hardly features any water component while the DLC is based on a theme around water.
The story revolves around Captain Scarlett as the name of the DLC suggests. She is a backstabbing pirate, who is out on a treasure hunt. She owns half the pieces of the treasure and she needs to find out the rest. This is the part of the DLC story where you are introduced as a vault hunter.
Once you are done with the My First Gun mission in Windshear Waste, Oasis, you will find the starting location of ‘Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty’ DLC popping up for fast travel.
This DLC features 4 story-based missions and 6 optional missions. Along with this DLC, three new types of enemies are also added to the game, which are pirates, stalkers, and sandworms. If you have good hands on the game, then on average it will take you about 4 hours to complete the main story missions while around 3 hours to complete the optional missions.
All in all, you are looking at a 12 hour straight game time that this DLC has to offer above everything.

The fourth one of the Borderland 2 DLC pack line-up was Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep DLC pack. It was released on the 25th of June 2013. The pack as it released around 10-month post the release of the original game gained quite some attention from the Borderland 2 audience.
The Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep DLC pack takes you back to the medieval era. In this DLC you get to experience some extraordinary things and characters like Dragons, Dwarfs, Orcs, Knights, Golems, Pixies, and Wizards.
When it was released back in 2013, the DLC was described as a ‘game within a game’. The reason behind this was the huge world that you get to explore with this DLC. Also, this DLC includes an act of homage to a popular classic role-playing game, Dungeons, and Dragons. You can get a feel of the classic in the ‘Tiny Tina acts as the Bunker Master’ part in the “Bunkers and Badasses” mission.
You will notice tiny tina changing the world as you progress through the DLC. The changes take effect according to the way the story flows. During this, you will note that things like paths and the appearances of bosses are quite random.
In addition to all this one of the notable features of this DLC is Dice Chest. In this, you get to roll dice featuring up to 22 sides. The higher the points you score in your roll, the rarer the loot inside the chest. You will get to roll the dice for free in your 1st move. However, you will have to invest as many as 5 Eridium rolls for the second and further chances.
To dive into the DLC map, all you have to do is open up your map and navigate to the Unassuming Docks using fast travel. This DLC adds many hours to your Borderlands 2 gameplay and we are quite sure that you will love this addition to your BL2. In totality, there are as many as 31 missions that you get to play in this DLC.
Out of the 32, four missions are core story missions. Don’t get mistaken by the number, each mission is quite long and you will be getting 6 hours of Borderland 2 gameplay out of them. If you are planning to complete the optional mission too then add an additional 9 hours to the gameplay time.
5. Commander Lilith & The Fight For Sanctuary

- TVHM Mode: 30 to 38
Platform :
- XBOX One
- PS4
- PC
Price:
- $14.99/€14.99/£11.99
So, this one is probably the last full power DLC pack released for Borderland 2. Commander Lilith & The Fight For Sanctuary DLC pack was released on the 9th of June, 2019. Yes! After a very long gap, the makers decided to give the game some fuel and it did work out for them. Being released almost 6 years after the release of the previous DLC pack, it was moved to hype up the release of the whole new version of the game, that is the Borderlands 3.
This DLC is based on a mission that will give you the feel related to the win of good over evil. The story revolves around Colonel Hector, who is the ex-leader of a Dahl battalion and takes over the city of Sanctuary. He also has gotten hold of the vault key and plans to engulf all of Pandora in a cloud of toxic gas. It’s up to you to stop him and that is the challenge and mission this DLC is based on.
Colonel Hector, ex-leader of a Dahl battalion DLC pack enables you to make new characters that can be immediately boosted to level 30. This enables you to play not only this one but other DLC too if you have not reached level 30 yet. This will also increase the overall level which is capped at 80.
However, you must note that this is the only DLC Pack that is not available on Xbox One and PlayStation 3. Also, this DLC only goes up to level 38 in both normal and TVHM mode. One more new thing that you must note is that for the first time in the borderland 2 series, a new weapon rarity level was introduced. The new Effervescent rarity for weapons is something that helps you a lot in distinguishing between different weapons.
You are quite lucky if you grabbed this DLC pack around the time it was released because it was released for free. However, now this is not the case and it is one of the most costly DLC packs in individual value.
Commander Lilith & The Fight For Sanctuary features as many as 20 missions in total. There are 7 main story missions while another 13 are side missions that are optional. On average you should be able to complete the story side of this DLC in a span of 13 hours.
This is the shortest gameplay time for the main story of DLC in all the DLC packs on Borderlands 2. Additionally, you will take another 6 hours for the side mission. All in all an additional 20 hours of gameplay time was added. The great news is you can get the working codes of Borderlands 2.
