Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
This replaced a ten year old Nivida GeForce 550 displaying to an 10 year old Asus 278 @144 mhz refresh. And yes, the motherboard and CPU was 10 years old, intel quad4 on an Asus PQ5 PRO with 16mb Ram. Only the nerdy will understand this combination of build. Say legacy.
Anyhow, this card went into a fresh new build. LGA1151 Intel i5 99990000 something, on a MSI 239OM gaming edge AC, with 32mb Kingston HyperX. SAMSUNG 1TB 960 EVO.
I figure after 10 years of reconfiguring what I had to make things work well, I earned a new setup. Yeah? Yes indeed. I'm still using the old Asus monitor at 144 mhz but when I connected this RTX2070 to it, I'm still blown away with clarity and speed. Granted, I'm no gamer, but this setup burns through warcraft, modern warfare, photoshop and HD video. Most of which posts results of well over 100+ FPS at ultra setting without any tearing, comma, discoloration or discombobulated pixels.
I DID NOT PURCHASE THIS FOR RAY TRACE GAMING, primarily. But that may come down the pike...just for testing. I bought it on the basis of cost, future longevity and emerging technology. VR, AI and yes RT.
The price is steep at $500. I could have bought a 1160 for half the money but the future longevity of this board, I feel, is added value over the next several years with emerging technology and system requirements. Although with alll the new fancy video boards to be released the price will come down, eventually.
//////// ////// //// EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT..... 1-25-20 Price changes, Now considered "old specs" DISCONTINUED ITEM \\\\ \\\\\\ \\\\\\\
of course the price has come down on better "spec'd" GPUS so pulling the trigger at this items current price marker is not recommended. Buyer Beware, the tech is the same but the specs are higher on newer cards, even by nivida, as well as other card makers. Currently this card is discontinued and not offered by the manufacturer, as a newer model has been presented to the public for purchase with better specs at a cheaper prices. This particular video card is discontinued and can no longer be purchased new from Nivida and maybe be priced as such as deemed "fair" but newer cards can be purchased with higher specs and possibly better performance. Do I recommend buying any RTX at $699...NO.
RULE OF THUMB WITH ALL TECH......Whatever GPU/IOcard/MainBoard/ MotherBoard you are looking to purchase, if you wait three months the price will come down, generally speaking. Memory on the other hand has a tendency to fluctuate with supply and demand with different manufactures. Video Cards, not so much...Video Card Technology is always improving and moving forward by adding more cores, higher bandwidth, combined with faster processing power.
SO....BUYER BEWARE, you can own a newer version of Video card for a cheaper dollar amount. The question was posed to me by a differant Amazon User via the Amazon question and answer interface, questioning the performance and spec of this particular card VS. a similar Nivida Card RTX Super ( newer release) and instead of answering that question flat out, I OPTED to update this review.
Overall performance is great. Haven't had any issues running AAA titles like Battlefront 2 as expected from an rtx 2070. Cooling is not as great as other brands like ZOTAC and EVGA.
I do have decent cooling inside PC and never had a problem but this card make weird fan noise after few hours of playing. it really annoying while playing games
I've had this graphics card for about 4 months and zero problems, I don't even hear it running. Asus tuff Z390 mobo, i7 9700k OC @ 5ghz, 240mm liquid cooled, extra case fans, 32 gb Predator @3200 mhz, EVGA supernova 850w, 2560 x 1440p 144hz Viotec 32" curved monitor. My games run and look amazing always on ultra settings. I would definately buy it again.
